MANUEL VON STÜRLER

Manuel von Stürler, a Swiss and French citizen, studied trombone, piano and composition at the conservatoire in Neuchâtel and at the jazz school in Lausanne. He performs on stage in Switzerland and abroad, and writes numerous pieces of music for the performing arts. In 2008, he started working on the documentary project HIVER NOMADE, which had its world premiere at the Berlinale in 2012. Released in Switzerland, Europe and the USA, it was a great success with more than 150’000 tickets sold.
In 2013, he began to work on his second documentary, LA FUREUR DE VOIR, produced by Bande à part Films (Jean-Stéphane Bron, Lionel Baier, Ursula Meier, Frédéric Mermoud), in French co-production with Les Films du Tambour de Soie (Alexandre Cornu), RTS Radio Télévision Suisse, SRG SSR and with the support of the Swiss Federal Office of Culture (DFI). It had its world premiere at the Visions du réel festival 2017, in international competition.

De nationalité suisse et française, Manuel von Stürler a étudié le trombone, le piano et la composition au conservatoire de Neuchâtel et à l’école de jazz de Lausanne. Il se produit sur scène en Suisse et à l’étranger, et écrit de nombreuses musiques pour l’art scénique. En 2008, il s’engage sur le projet de documentaire HIVER NOMADE, présenté en première mondiale à la Berlinale en 2012. Distribué en Suisse, en Europe et aux USA, il a obtenu un beau succès avec plus de 150’000 entrées en salle.
En 2013, il entame le projet de son deuxième documentaire, LA FUREUR DE VOIR, produit par Bande à part Films (Jean-Stéphane Bron, Lionel Baier, Ursula Meier, Frédéric Mermoud), en copro- duction Française avec Les Films du Tambour de Soie (Alexandre Cornu), RTS Radio Télévision Suisse, SRG SSR et avec le soutien de l’Office fédéral de la culture (DFI Suisse). Il a été présenté en première mondiale au festival Visions du réel 2017, en compétition internationale.
